mooveez.ca

For the past few weeks, I've been working on a new project and I think it's now ready for prime time.

For years, I've been using MyEpisodes, a service that allows you to track your favorite TV shows and informs you of episode air dates. You can track which episodes you've acquired and watched, when new episodes are coming out and so on. It's been invaluable to me.

I recently started looking for a similar service for movies. Unfortunately, all existing services that allow you to have a personal list of movies are focused on movie reviews, trailers, show times, news, and other aspects of movies. None are focused on personal tracking. This is when I realized I need to make my own service to help me with my needs.

I started working on a new site, mooveez.ca. A personal movie tracking service. The site gets all movie data from Yahoo Movies and allows you to track which movies you've acquired or watched, which movies are coming out soon or recently came out. The site currently has a very focused role, but that's part of the design. My vision is to focus on the personal tracking side of things, while integrating well enough with external sites to provide reviews, news, trailers, etc... No need to reinvent what other sites are doing well.

The site is still in beta, and I'm looking for as much feedback as possible to improve it.

DUST 514 details revealed, gameplay intertwines with EVE Online

I wouldn't normally blog about another announcement of another FPS game (not that I've been blogging much lately!). But this is intriguing.

DUST 514 will be a MMO FPS game where players get their missions from EVE Online players. It will be in the same EVE Online universe but from a different perspective if you will. Not to mention that the game will be on consoles while EVE is a PC game. Sounds very promising.

This is the kind of innovation that the gaming industry has been lacking for years. I probably wouldn't go back to playing games for this, but I'm happy to hear about a fresh new idea like this.

And by the way, this is the first time I've used the linking feature from Google Reader to Blogger. It makes things easy.

A recent interview from German gaming blog Gamona with CCP Games CEO Hilmar Pétursson is likely going to turn a few heads in the MMO gaming realm -- it reveals a few savory details about the recently revealed spin-off of EVE Online, titled DUST 514. It sounds like they're trying something groundbreaking with this new title -- it'll be a console MMOFPS with real-time strategy elements, in which mercenary players take job contracts from EVE Online players.

Considering the constant power struggle between EVE's player alliances (that's space-talk for 'guilds'), there'll be no shortage of odd jobs available for DUST 514's hired guns. For more information on how these two games will interact, you can check out the full video interview after the jump.

Back to reality

I'm back from Turkey. The last 3 weeks were great and went by quick, although I did miss Canada and all my friends here.

I have lots of pictures that I need to organize and put up online. Hopefully some time during the week.

First International Post

I'm currently in Turkey on a much needed 3-week vacation without much of internet access.

The weather here is amazing as opposed to the crappy London summer we've been having. It's been constantly 30+ degrees in the day and around 20 at night. Doesn't get much better than that.

Time to relax...

New Vocal Mix

Yesterday, I finished working on my second one-hour mix, and this time it's all vocal house. The mixing is slightly better than the first one, but I still like the music selection more on the first one as I've always liked non-vocals more.

If you'd like to check it out, head over to montu.ca.

Hmmm, now I need to figure out what my next mix should be.

Introducing... Montu

A quick update on my DJ hobby.

So I've been playing at the club every Saturday for about an hour through out the night, and I can see myself getting much better. I'm also getting used to the atmosphere so I don't get nervous anymore.

I picked a DJ name for myself as well, Montu. Montu is an ancient Egyptian god of war. I picked an ancient Egyptian name because of my middle eastern background and Montu sounded unique without being one of the popular gods. And it starts with an M so I saw it as a good fit.

My logo is Montu's name in ancient Egyptian hieroglyphs. After I made the logo, a friend pointed out that the 3 symbols on the left look like a mixer, a sound wave and headphones, which I didn't notice before. So it all seems to be working out pretty well.

I created a website montu.ca that will eventually have info, pics, music and other things. The first thing to go up there will probably be my first mixed set which I'm currently working on. Once that's done I'll put it up and spread the word around about the website.
